Product Description

Thermal magnetic circuit breakers, like the ED62B040 are the type found in many Siemens / ITE distribution boards. The ED62B040 circuit breaker incorporates both instantaneous and long-time trip functions. The electromagnet characteristics of this breaker allow it to trip instantaneously under large surges in current (e.g., short circuits). The ED62B040 contains a bimetallic strip within the breaker will respond to less extreme but longer-term over-current conditions. So designed, Siemens / ITE circuit breakers including the ED62B040 protect conductors against overloads and conductors and connected apparatus, such as motors and motor starters, against short circuits.

LivewireSupply.com is an affordable place to buy the ED62B040 and it can typically ship the same day that it is ordered. All ED62B040 Circuit Breakers are HACR-rated. The ED62B040 is also available in a Line and Load lug-included version with an “L” at the end of the part number.

Siemens Molded Case Circuit Breakers, like the ED62B040 are designed to provide circuit protection for low voltage distribution protection for low voltage distribution systems. They are described by NEMA as, "a device for closing and interrupting a circuit between separable contacts under both normal and abnormal conditions," and furthermore as, ". . . a breaker assembled as an integral unit in a supporting and enclosing housing of insulating material." The NEC describes them as, "A device designed to open and close a circuit by non-automatic means, and to open the circuit automatically on a predetermined overload of current, without injury to itself when properly applied within its rating."
